The reluctantly mysterious Pan Amsterdam’s new album, HA Chu offers listeners immediate access into the creative process and transcontinental artistic community that’s encouraged his Def Pressé albums, thus far.

On the strength of Pan Amsterdam’s critically acclaimed 2018 debut album, The Pocket Watch, he toured the U.K. with DJ/ producer Mr. Shn and the U.S. with Open Mike Eagle until Iggy Pop tapped Leron Thomas (New York-based composer, producer, multi-media artist and trumpeter/ mastermind behind his rap persona, Pan Amsterdam) to pen and produce most of his new album, Free.

While touring with Iggy Pop as lead trumpeter and bandleader, Leron (Pan Amsterdam) further collaborated with vocalists, musicians and producers he met on tour.

This album features collabs with Jason Williamson (Sleaford Mods), Jimi Goodwin (Doves) with some other surprises along the way. HA Chu is the sonic retrospective of Pan Am’s international touring experience.

The first single, Carrot Cake. Produced by Guts, is Pan Amsterdam’s transcontinental collaboration with legendary French Dj/ Producer Guts. Carrot Cake rekindles the vibe of their huge 2014 French hit single, Man Funk, as Pan effortlessly weaves humorous, witty flows into the gritty terrain of Guts’ Parisian-Boom-Bap-Funk pop.

Hannibal Lecture comes with none other than Jason Williamson (Sleaford Mods). Jason and Pan Amsterdam met at a World Service show with Iggy Pop and Anna Calvi last year. They hit it off and recorded two songs together. Both of which appear on this album. Hannibal Lecture, Produced by Coup Diablo (Jimi Goodwin – Doves) sees Jason and Pan Am trading verses. Nottingham, UK x New York, New York. Movie references and punch lines…
