Porchlight share new EP ‘Wives Tales & Hymns of the Earth’

Charismatic and complex, the EP is a stunning realisation of the of the last two years of creativity. The band have produced a body of work that blends the group’s earlier post-punk inspirations with post-rock, creating a richer, dense piece of work that stands as a testament to the daring vision of Porchlight. Tracks such as ‘Spin Doctor’ and ‘Shhrrp’ examine life and the political, heavy riffs and deep emotion. It’s a stirring musical document that targets the head and heart 

With previous support from So Young, Still Listening, Fred Perry Subculture, Rodeo, BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music it sets up Porchlight for the next stage of the career and hints at the paths they could take into their debut album.

Vinyl Only Bonus Track: Wives Tales & Hymns of the Earth 

‘Wives Tales & Hymns Of The Earth’ was recorded at east London’s Haha Sounds Studio last year with producer Syd Kemp (The Horrors, Thurston Moore, HMLTD). The EP is available for pre-order here. 

The band recently played Visions Festival in London and previously appeared at the Great Escape.

Formed of lead vocalist Sam Crees, bassist Oli Port, guitarists Hodges and Coram, and Harry Geal on drums, Porchlight are a charismatic hybrid who, off of the back of a handful of singles and rabid word-of-mouth, are fast becoming one of the most beguiling acts to watch. 

Tried and tested through a myriad of notorious live-shows, which saw the group establish an ever-growing fanbase throughout the UK and EU, the five tracks that would eventually go on to form ‘Wives Tales & Hymns of the Earth’, Porchlight’s forthcoming debut EP, are a symbolic mis-mash of heart-on-sleeve musicianship and delightfully raucous lyricism.
