“Covid 19 and the devastation it’s currently reaping globally was brewing whilst my mate Adam Argyle was producing the demo for World Gone Mad. We had yet to go into lockdown for the foreseeable future, but things were looking increasingly bleak. Despite this, my intention at the time wasn’t to write specifically about the virus, but instead to write a song about the chaotic and rapidly changing times we live in. As a young man finding my footing in the adult world, I’ve found myself a little baffled as to which foot to put forward first. Like many others of my generation, I’ve found it an even more difficult transition to make when the world that surrounds us doesn’t seem to know how either. It’s this very unique parallel and personal perspective that I wanted to capture within the song. Whether it be climate change, divisive politics, or an unprecedented pandemic, the world is currently spinning wildly and with as much uncertainty as a young adult of my age would be. It is a hormonal 20 year old trying to decide what path it wants to take at the moment, being both an exciting and worrying place to exist in all at the same time. It was therefore a rare moment of clarity and joy when the demo arrived in my inbox and I picked up my headphones to listen, that we had inadvertently written a song that has taken on an even greater level of relevance. Like a ray of light peeking through the clouds. I hope this song helps people through these tough times and inspires great new art and thought.”
