New Year new records, we’ve picked our 5 favourite releases for January. We hope you enjoy our selection!

Mark recommends Dream Wife – ‘Dream Wife’ – Lucky Number

Loved these ladies since their first EP in 2016. The Album delivers the perfect mix of fuzzy guitars, punk attitude and killer pop hooks. Stand out singles for me are ’Somebody’, ‘Hey Heartbreaker’ and ‘Love Without Reason’ but its full of energy and vigour throughout. Put simply, a great album to start 2018!

Dave chose Johnny Jewel – Digital Rain – Italians Do It Better

Epic Analogue Atmospheric Eerie Filmic The analogue Synth King is back doing what he does best.

Greg’s pick this month is Francis Macdonald – Hamilton Mausoleum Suite – TR7
An album of chamber music inspired by – and recorded in – Hamilton Mausoleum, in Lanarkshire. It’s performed by soloists from The Scottish Festival Orchestra, and composed, arranged and produced by Francis Macdonald, who somehow found time to make the album around other recording and scoring projects, and drumming for Teenage Fanclub on their recent world tour. Top composer and a lovely bloke as well.
Andy’s pick this month is Khruangbin – Con Todo El Mundo – Night Time Stories
The rise of Thai funk surf soul continues with the second album from this talented trio.

Naomi’s choice is Nick J.D. Hodgson – Tell Your Friends Prediction Records

A first solo record for Nick J.D. Hodgson and I just love the songwriting behind his songs. Easy to sing a long and great hooks. Personal favourites are ‘Don’t Forget to Go to Sleep’, ‘Suitable’ and ‘Tomorrow I Love You’.
